Emerging from London’s independent music scene in the late 2000s, she first released music under her birth name, Alice McLaughlin, before attracting the attention of Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best label and securing a deal with Parlophone EMI. Following a private equity merger, Gold was dropped by EMI but went on to co-produce her debut album with acclaimed producer Dan Carey. The project was subsequently signed to Fiction Records, part of Universal Music Group, in 2009.
